Americans are being fleeced. I argue with people who have never lived abroad about this. I lived 17 years abroad and realized almost everything I was told about it was a lie. Talking to Americans one would think the only things that matter are taxes and the cost of gasoline.
I love the analysis, but the line of "Annual Savings vs Austin" is not correct, you should either update that number to the savings or the wording to "Annual Cost of Living"
Even in Stockholm - a family of 3-4 is doing great on a salary of $60-80k a year. The trick is securing permission to move there.
Just leave the MAGA politics in America please!

Is the net (after tax) the same in Lisbon as it is in Austin?
And I agree that directionally it is cheaper to live in Lisbon.
I noticed there is a lack of elasticity wherever you look in the world.
No matter where you move the standard keeps being the same.
(i.e. the more you earn, the more expensive everything is)
Prices in Italy are lower.
But I’m willing to bet if their wages went up and match the U.S. then the prices would match it as well.
So whatever the income is - it’s designed to be completely depleted.
Not on luxury, but just basic normal life.
Good math, but the final result reflects the cost of living there, not the savings, who are way more higher!;)
